Civil servants must have desire to improve

PRIME Minster Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s call to civil servants to put service quality and productivity before self is a timely wake-up call that cannot be ignored any longer, in reference to “Service first, says PM”, (The Star, May 5).  

Demanding a pay rise instead of revisiting service quality, standards and productivity levels is akin to placing the cart before the horse.
