Assurance on maids brings relief to nation

WHEN Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi announced last week that the existing policy on the employment of foreign maids would remain, one could almost hear the sigh of relief throughout the nation. 

The employers have been extremely worried following the statement by Home Affairs parliamentary secretary Datuk Abu Zahar Isnin that the Government had decided that non-Muslim employers would not be allowed to hire Muslim maids.
