SINGAPORE'S Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) has recently rejected vegetables imported from Kulai and Johor Baru because of a recent incident where more than 1,000 baskets of vegetables were found to have pesticide residue above the permissible level, “Johor veggie exporters threaten to boycott Singapore,” (The Star, May 3).

No doubt this has affected the producers as it has been estimated that for every lorryload of vegetables rejected, the exporter suffers losses of between RM10,000 and RM20,000.
