BY 2010, public universities in the country may have to find alternative funding for another 20% of their operating budget. That target is part of the Government’s move to encourage greater financial self-reliance in Malaysia’s 17 public universities.
Currently, 90% of their budget comes from the Government, allowing for very reasonable fees being charged to students. That may change soon.
