THE limelight on Yap Sui Lin, the student who achieved 16As in the SPM examination, will definitely reveal there are always some sour grapes among us.
Another Very Concerned Mom’s letter, “What about the others who did well in the SPM”,(The Star, March 17) proved me right.
I told my wife that since Sui Lin had been featured in all the newspapers and on TV, she should stop giving any more talks before she received some negative criticisms.
However, I guess, with so many requests, it is indeed difficult for her to turn them down.
Otherwise, people will say she is arrogant and snobbish.
From her appearance on TV and the interviews in the newspapers, we can see Sui Lin is such a nice and humble person.
On TV3’sWanita Hari Ini she even suggested the blind student who scored a string of As should be given more attention.
Sui Lin is just superb and brilliant in scoring 16As, considering the fact that she had lost her father at the age of 10.
She has rightly earned her place in the Malaysia Book of Records.
If I have only one present to give between an achiever of 16As and that of a 10As, my gift would certainly go to the one with 16As.
Once again, congratulations to Sui Lin and her mother!
My congratulations also to all the other achievers with a string of As.
