MORE than 15,000 motorists had their driving licences suspended last year for committing various traffic offences and for accumulating 15 points or more under the Road Transport Department’s (JPJ) demerit point system, Berita Harian said in its front-page report yesterday.

It quoted JPJ director-general, Datuk Dr Mohd Shahar Sidek, as saying that the figure was a 15-fold increase compared with 1,038 the previous year.
