LAST Saturday, tens of thousands of people assembled in Washington, and in the shadow of the Capitol’s dome, they demonstrated their opposition to a United States-led military strike against Iraq.
With the Pentagon stepping up military preparations, including ordering more aircraft carriers to the Persian Gulf, thousands of demonstrators in cities from Moscow to London, Christchurch in New Zealand to Cairo in Egypt, and Toronto to Tokyo, also took to the streets last weekend to urge the Bush administration to find a peaceful solution to the Iraq crisis.
