Tensions rise over minor fracas

IN an atmosphere intense with the possibility of a terrorist attack at any time, a minor traffic incident can be magnified into a racial dispute between the police and the Muslim community in Australia. 

But, fortunately, sanity prevailed in the end after calls for calm and level-headedness by New South Wales Premier Bob Carr, State Opposition Leader John Brogden and some Muslim leaders to prevent violence from erupting.
