Chu lands job as a director

FORMER Taiwan politician Melody Chu Mei-feng, who shot to notoriety in December 2001 after she was filmed by an estranged friend having sex with a married man, has landed herself a job with an international publication firm. 

The Chinese press reported that Chu, 37, had been appointed executive director of Pandora Publishing and heads the company’s representative office for the Asian and Pacific region, based in Singapore.Chu and her boyfriend from mainland China, Xu Changsheng, were to tie the knot during the Lantern Festival (the 15th day of the first lunar month) in the Year of the Goat but the marriage plan was called off by Xu. 

Xu said he had to break off from Chu because of her plan to publish a collection of nude pictures of herself despite his objection. 

  • THE Home Ministry has applied for an additional RM35mil from the Treasury to compensate the 35,000 voluntary police constables who helped maintain peace and order from the Emergency days in 1948 to 1962. 

    Sin Chew Daily, quoting Deputy Home Minister Datuk Chor Chee Heung, reported that on Nov 30 last year the Ministry paid out RM18mil to 18,000 voluntary police constables who served the country during the period. 

  • THE historical ground-breaking ceremony of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman is expected to attract some 30,000 people, including MCA members from various parts of the country, to Bandar Baru, Kampar on Jan 12. 

    Perak MCA chairman Datuk Ong Ka Chuan told Nanyang Siang Pau that in view of the huge turnout expected, the party had organised a 200-member traffic team to help direct traffic along the major roads leading to the area.
