BOTH front pages of the Berita Harian and Utusan Malaysia carried the Women and Family Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil’s criticisms against the Perlis Government’s decision to ease regulations on polygamy to deter married Muslim men from flocking to southern Thailand to wed secretly.

In Utusan Malaysia, Shahrizat strongly opposed the move, which allowed men to marry a second wife without seeking permission from the first, stating that it was an insult to women.
