Shinzo Abe took to the polls and trashed his rivals in a snap election that was all too easy. 

JAPAN is one of the oldest and strongest democracies in Asia. But I must say that as a follower of its political scene, this is not the most exciting of times. Snap elections have just been held less than three years after the last one and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe (pic) and his Liberal Democratic Party have secured another crushing victory.
