I guess it’s natural to be proud of the land of your birth. Even though my blood is 100% Indian (as far as I can tell), the family homeland became Malaya/Malaysia more than a century ago when my great-grandfather Sermadevi Sivaramakrishna Sankaranaraya Iyer moved here from southern India. Since then, it has become the land where my grandfather, father and sons were born.

Through a strange quirk of fate however, the land of my birth is somewhere quite different.
