Depoliticising the system here in Malaysia


FOR decades, the rakyat has blamed politics for everything that has gone wrong in the country. That blame came only after the rakyat had, since independence, trusted the political leaders totally and had subsequently been disappointed.

I suppose as a new independent nation and, considering the general education level of the population then, it was understandable that the rakyat was prepared to stake their future wholly in the hands of the politicians, thinking they know best. However, with the rise in education, greater access to information (thanks to Internet) and the manner in which our nation has developed, the rakyat no longer believe that politicians know best.
