FIBROIDS (also called myomas) are non-cancerous (benign) growths of the muscle wall of the uterus. They are the most common kind of uterine growths found in women in their 30s or 40s but they can occur at any age.
Many women have fibroids but are unaware of them because they remain small and do not cause problems. The size, shape and location of fibroids can vary considerably.
