I AM going to do something different today. Instead of the usual, writing about the photos I have taken in the past, I have been requested by several anxious parties to write about my recent trip to Tokyo, Japan, to cover Nikon Corporation’s Japan global launch of their latest and much anticipated flagship digital SLR (Single Lens Reflex) camera, the D3 on Aug 23.

They also concurrently launched their latest mid-range D-SLR the D300. Both cameras were launched in conjunction with the Corporation’s 90th anniversary and amidst recent announcements of its winning a major contract to supply cameras to NASA on its Space Shuttle and International Space Station missions. Nikon also announced that it had achieved a major milestone of selling 40 million lenses.
