Life lessons from a Chevening Year

Our columnist’s time at Oxford was not just about studying public policy. It was also a journey in self-belief and self-improvement.

“WE don’t sponsor women to study in Oxford. They all end up as housewives anyway.” That was just one of the many reasons for rejection that I received when I was looking for a scholarship to study here, a town I now lovingly call #kampungOxford. It feels surreal that this city of dreaming spires has embraced me as one of its own.
