‘Heartware’ crucial in tackling disasters

TRAGEDIES often bring out the best and worst in people. In the last couple of weeks of 2014, the nation grappled with one of the worst floods in history, which disrupted the lives of communities in many areas and caused great damage. Some even view the impact of the floods as worse than the “red flood” of 1926.

According to the Works Ministry, the cost of infrastructure repairs is estimated to be around RM338mil, of which RM204.3mil is for states in the east coast. The Education Ministry, meanwhile, has put the cost to repair damaged schools at RM350mil.
