Crude futures settle lower

NEW YORK, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Oil prices fell on Wednesday.

The West Texas Intermediate for February delivery lost 1.14 U.S. dollars, or 2.0 percent, to settle at 55.99 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for March delivery dropped 74 cents, or 1.22 percent, to settle at 59.96 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.
