Moscow logs record-warm night for this time of year

MOSCOW, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Moscow logged the warmest night on record overnight for this time of year, with temperatures hitting around 10 degrees Celsius above the November norm, local media reported, citing a weather specialist.

"The minimum air temperature last night at the VDNKh base weather station was 8.2 degrees Celsius. These readings are even slightly warmer than the nighttime climate norm for May or September," Evgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Phobos Weather Center, was quoted by RIA Novosti as saying.

The expert called the temperature an "anomaly," adding that such warm nights on this date have never been registered in the entire history of regular observations at the VDNKh weather station.

Earlier, Alexander Ilyin, a forecaster at the Meteo forecasting center, said that warm weather would persist in Moscow until the end of the week, adding that average daily temperatures would be 3-5 degrees Celsius above normal.
