Businessman killed in Sri Lanka's shooting linked to underworld rivalries


COLOMBO, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- A businessman fell victim to a shooting that occurred in southern Sri Lanka on Tuesday, police said.

A police spokesperson told reporters that the shooting took place near the Urban Council premises of Ambalangoda, a coastal town in Sri Lanka's Southern Province, at around 10:30 a.m. local time. The victim was rushed to hospital with critical injuries but succumbed soon after admission.
