Vietnam calls for emergency response to severe flooding in central region


HANOI, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Vietnamese government has called for emergency response efforts to deal with severe flooding that has battered the country's central region over the past few days, Vietnam News Agency reported Tuesday.

Local authorities in Quang Tri, Quang Ngai provinces, Hue and Da Nang cities have been urged to carry out timely evacuations and provide adequate shelters for affected residents.
