9th Future Investment Initiative conference focuses on sustainable growth frontiers

RIYADH, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- The 9th edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) conference, a major international investment and innovation forum held annually, kicked off here on Monday, with a focus on creating new frontiers for sustainable growth.

Under the theme "The key to prosperity: unlocking new frontiers of growth," this year's conference, scheduled to last four days, has drawn over 8,000 participants worldwide, with around 650 political and business leaders scheduled to deliver speeches, marking the largest scale in the event's history.

A closed-door session marked the first day of the conference, covering topics on innovations in carbon accounting for evaluating corporate climate performance, the potential of cryptocurrency to redefine the global financial system, quantum computing and its capacity to generate returns, and strategies for investing in future leadership.

From Tuesday to Thursday, the event will feature a series of thematic discussions on the impact of artificial intelligence and robotics on productivity, wealth creation amid growing inequality, geoeconomic implications of resource scarcity, demographic shifts shaping the future workforce, and strategies to balance economic growth and environmental sustainability.

According to Richard Attias, CEO of the conference's organizer the FII Institute, since its first edition in 2017, the FII has witnessed the signing of deals worth nearly 200 billion U.S. dollars.
