India enforces GRAP Stage-I restrictions as air quality deteriorates

NEW DELHI, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Amid worsening air quality in the Indian capital Delhi, the federal government on Tuesday announced the imposition of curbs under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage-I in Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR).

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in NCR and adjoining areas committee on Delhi pollution has decided to invoke all actions under Stage-I (Poor Air Quality) of the extant GRAP in the entire NCR, with immediate effect.

Current Air Quality Index levels in Delhi reached 211, classified as "poor," with forecasts indicating ongoing air quality issues.
