Cambodia's construction sector attracts investment projects worth 4.93 bln USD in 1st 7 months of 2025


PHNOM PENH, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's construction sector had attracted a total investment of 4.93 billion U.S. dollars in the first seven months of 2025, up 60 percent year-on-year, an official said on Tuesday.

Lao Tepseiha, a secretary of state at the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, said the ministry had granted licenses to 2,435 construction projects during the January-July period this year, up 27.8 percent from 1,904 projects over the same period last year.

He said a total of 973 construction and home design companies, including 375 foreign firms, are currently operating in the Southeast Asian nation.

Tepseiha released the figures in a speech delivered at an annual construction and automotive expo in Phnom Penh.

In the automotive sector, the official said that as of September 2025, the kingdom had registered 7,187 electric vehicles, 671 three-wheeler electric vehicles, and 2,710 electric scooters.

"The Cambodian government has launched the National Policy on EV Development for 2024-2030, aiming to promote the use of 770,000 EVs by 2030," he said.
