Afghan security forces arrest 202 persons over attempts to illegally sneak into Iran


KABUL, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Afghan security forces have arrested 202 individuals along the border with Iran over attempting to illegally sneak into the neighboring country, said a statement of the national army in the western region on Tuesday.

The arrested individuals have been detained from Ghorian district of the western Herat province over the past week, the statement added without providing more details.

Although hundreds of Afghan refugees return from Iran daily to their homeland Afghanistan, numerous Afghans leave for Iran illegally everyday to escape poverty and unemployment in their post-war country.

The Afghan government has vowed to check human trafficking and illegal crossing to the neighboring countries.
