CAIRO, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- The latest Egypt-China cultural dialogue was held at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) in Cairo on Tuesday, highlighting the civilizational heritage of Egypt's Nile River and China's Yangtze River.

The event, themed "When the Yangtze Meets the Nile," was jointly organized by the NMEC and cultural authorities from Chongqing, a major city in southwest China.

"The meeting of the Nile and the Yangtze goes beyond being a mere encounter of two of the world's longest rivers, for it is a meeting of two histories, two cultures, and two ancient peoples who believe in cooperation, mutual respect, and genuine values," El-Tayeb Abbas, chief executive officer of the NMEC Authority, said at the opening ceremony.

For his part, Jiang Hui, member of the Standing Committee and director general of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Chongqing Municipal Committee, described the dialogue as "a time-transcending, cross-civilization conversation."

"The Yangtze and the Nile are both cradles of human civilization. The land along the Yangtze nurtured Chongqing's 3,000 years of profound history, while the pyramids and temples along the Nile shine with the unique wisdom of Egypt," he noted.

During the event, Mohamed Ismail Khaled, secretary-general of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities, highlighted the growing cultural cooperation between Egypt and China.

The dialogue unfolded through an exhibition featuring stage performances, interactive workshops, and immersive displays, which offered visitors an engaging experience that highlights the shared cultural and civilizational heritage of Egypt and China.

"I like the exhibition because it combines photos, videos and projected information, which help Egyptians learn more about Chinese culture and the Yangtze River. Art is a key bridge between cultures," Egyptian visitor Radwa Suleiman, an artist, told Xinhua.
