U.S. crude oil inventories down last week: API


HOUSTON, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- The American Petroleum Institute (API) on Tuesday reported a decrease of 2.4 million barrels of crude oil in U.S. inventories for the week ending Aug. 15.

The API reported a surge of 1.5 million barrels in the previous week.

Oil prices fell on Tuesday.

The West Texas Intermediate for September delivery slipped 1.07 U.S. dollars, or 1.69 percent, to settle at 62.35 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for October delivery dropped 81 cents, or 1.22 percent, to settle at 65.79 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.
