Sarajevo Film Festival opens with over 250 films

SARAJEVO, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- The 31st edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF) opened here on Friday night, with 50 films competing for the Heart of Sarajevo awards.

Running through August 22, this year's festival presents more than 250 films from around 60 countries and regions, with a focus on new productions from Southeast Europe.

This year's guests include actors Willem Dafoe and Stellan Skarsgard, both set to receive the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo.

Founded in 1995, the Sarajevo Film Festival has grown into one of Southeast Europe's most significant cultural events.
