NEW YORK, July 15 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended mixed on Tuesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 436.36 points, or 0.98 percent, to 44,023.29. The S&P 500 sank 24.80 points, or 0.40 percent, to 6,243.76. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 37.47 points, or 0.18 percent, to 20,677.80.
Ten of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with materials and health leading the laggards by losing 2.11 percent and 1.88 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, technology bucked the trend by rising 1.27 percent.
