U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, July 14 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.23 percent to 98.080 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro decreased to 1.1670 dollars from 1.1689 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.3428 dollars from 1.3509 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 147.76 Japanese yen, higher than 147.45 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar advanced to 0.7979 Swiss francs from 0.7972 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.3700 Canadian dollars from 1.3675 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 9.6099 Swedish kronor from 9.5577 Swedish kronor.
