Moscow int'l film festival kicks off in Russian capital

MOSCOW, April 17 (Xinhua) -- The 47th Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) opened Thursday in the Russian capital, with a dedicated BRICS film program featured among its lineup.

Running through April 24, the festival will showcase 200 films from 50 countries and regions, according to the organizing committee.

A BRICS film festival, held within the framework of the MIFF, will highlight cinematic works from BRICS member states, including China, Russia, India, Iran, Egypt, and others.

This year marks the 90th anniversary of the MIFF, which was first held in Moscow in 1935 and became regular since 1959. The main prize of the festival, Golden Saint George, is awarded for the best film of the competition program.
