NEW YORK, March 27 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended lower on Thursday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 155.09 points, or 0.37 percent, to 42,299.7. The S&P 500 sank 18.89 points, or 0.33 percent, to 5,693.31. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 94.98 points, or 0.53 percent, to 17,804.03.
Eight of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with energy and communication services leading the laggards by dropping 0.85 percent and 0.84 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, consumer staples and health led the gainers by rising 1.00 percent and 0.19 percent, respectively.
