Zambia confirms first mpox death as infections rises to 31

LUSAKA, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Zambia on Thursday confirmed its first mpox-related death as the cumulative number of laboratory-confirmed infections reached 31 in the southern African nation.

Minister of Health Elijah Muchima said the first mpox-related death, involving an eight-month-old infant, was recorded at a health facility in Lusaka, the country's capital.
