U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, March 19 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar climbed in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, increased by 0.18 percent to 103.428 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro lost to 1.0908 U.S. dollars from 1.0944 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound increased to 1.3008 dollars from 1.3004 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 148.84 Japanese yen, lower than 149.23 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar climbed to 0.8776 Swiss francs from 0.8765 Swiss francs, and it added to 1.4311 Canadian dollars from 1.4304 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was up to 10.0856 Swedish Kronor from 10.0357 Swedish Kronor.
