Austria's inflation rate holds steady at 3.2 pct in February

VIENNA, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Austria's inflation rate remained at 3.2 percent in February, the same as in January, Statistics Austria reported on Wednesday.

Electricity in particular saw a sharp year-on-year increase, especially as the electricity price cap ended, and subsidies for electricity and grid costs for certain households expired at the start of the year, said Statistics Austria Director-General Tobias Thomas in a statement.

The impact of electricity prices on inflation is expected to persist until the end of the year, Thomas added.

The leading contributor to price increases in February was the housing, water, and energy sector, followed by the hospitality industry.
