JERUSALEM -- An army crane collapsed in the northern Gaza Strip Wednesday night, killing two Israeli soldiers and injuring eight others, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and media reports.

Israel's state-owned Kan TV News reported that due to stormy weather, the crane collapsed onto a tent housing IDF's Golani Brigade troops. One of the injured was listed in serious condition. (Gaza-Crane Accident-Israeli Casualty)

TEHRAN -- Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed on Thursday that his country has never sought to develop nuclear weapons.

He made the remarks at a ceremony in Tehran to mark the 46th anniversary of the victory of Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution, according to a statement by his office. DAMASCUS -- Syria's interim Defense Ministry announced on Thursday that its forces are continuing operations against remnants of the ousted Bashar al-Assad government and drug traffickers along the Syrian-Lebanese border.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a war monitor, the military has also deployed heavy weaponry and drones to eliminate entrenched fighters linked to the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah and a drug cartel. (Syria-Offensive-Former Gov't Remnants)

JERUSALEM -- Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar informed the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) on Thursday that Israel will no longer participate in it.
