U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Thursday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.23 percent to 106.957 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro dropped to 1.0473 U.S. dollars from 1.0492 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.2670 dollars from 1.2745 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 152.54 Japanese yen, lower than 152.65 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.8914 Swiss francs from 0.8848 Swiss francs, and it added to 1.4208 Canadian dollars from 1.4162 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar increased to 11.0106 Swedish Kronor from 10.9791 Swedish Kronor.
