U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.33 percent to 106.055 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro lost to 1.0555 U.S. dollars from 1.0587 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.2735 dollars from 1.2757 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 149.97 Japanese yen, lower than 150.02 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.8789 Swiss francs from 0.8781 Swiss francs, and it added to 1.4159 Canadian dollars from 1.4028 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar climbed to 10.9459 Swedish Kronor from 10.8514 Swedish Kronor.
