Harmonia Cordis Int'l Guitar Festival kicks off in Romania

BUCHAREST, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- The 19th Harmonia Cordis International Guitar Festival kicked off on Tuesday in Mures County of Romania.

The festival, featuring artists from 15 countries, opened with a performance by students from the local Collegiate High School of Arts.

Starting Wednesday, the University of Arts in Targu Mures will host masterclasses and a guitar concert-exhibition with Eduardo Alferez, Constantin Dumitriu, and Vlad Nedelcu. Concerts by the Gheorghe Dima Academy of Music and various international artists are also scheduled.

The event also features the final of the Harmonia Cordis International Guitar Competition, offering over 10,000 euros (11,000 U.S. dollars) in prizes. Attendees can enjoy concerts, master classes, workshops, and exhibitions.

The festival, organized by the Harmonia Cordis Association, runs until Sunday.
