HKSAR government holds opening ceremony for new immigration HQ

HONG KONG, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government held on Saturday an opening ceremony for its new immigration headquarters located in Tseung Kwan O, New Territories.

Addressing the ceremony, Chan Kwok-ki, chief secretary for administration of the HKSAR government, said that as the times change, the responsibilities shouldered and services provided by the Immigration Department are also ever increasing.

Chan said he hopes that the department will continue to uphold four principles in its work, namely to steadfastly strengthen the defense for safeguarding national security, to zealously innovate and seek breakthroughs, to vigorously promote the economic development of Hong Kong, and to proactively integrate into the national development.

The Immigration Headquarters were relocated to 61 Po Yap Road, Tseung Kwan O, New Territories from Immigration Tower, 7 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai on June 11, 2024. The new headquarters are situated near the Tiu Keng Leng MTR Stations and easily accessible by various means of public transport.
