PARIS, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Reigning champions South Korea defended their title in archery mixed team after crushing Germany 6-0 here on Friday, collecting all three golds available by now in archery competitions.
The American duo, Casey Kaufhold and world record holder Brady Ellison, won bronze, besting India's Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara 6-2.
South Koreans Lim Si-hyeon and Kim Woo-jin were caught in an intense fight against Chinese Taipei's Lei Chien-ying and Tai Yu-hsuan in the 1/8 elimination round.
After losing the first two rounds, Chinese Taipei strove to catch up, shooting a 38 out of 40 in the third round and four 10s in the fourth round, forcing the game into the shoot-off. However, South Korea won with two 10s in the decisive round.
South Korea then defeated Italy and India to meet with Germany in the gold medal match, where the victorious team won 6-0.
"The mixed team competition is one of the hardest because the aces of each country are competing, but I'm thankful that [my teammate] Lim Si-hyeon can fight against the pressure. She shot well," said Kim Woo-jin of South Korea.
Chinese archers Wang Yan and Li Jiaman lost to Spain's Elia Canales and Pablo Acha Gonzalez 6-2 in the 1/8 elimination round.
After losing the first round by two points, the Chinese duo matched arrow by arrow to tie in the second and third rounds. In the decisive fourth round, Spain secured its victory with three consecutive 10s to advance.
"This is my first Olympics and there is still much to learn," said Wang after the match, adding that he will be preparing for the upcoming individual matches actively.
The women's and men's individual archery gold medals will be determined in the upcoming two days. .
