U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, July 22 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.08 percent to 104.315 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro advanced to 1.0890 U.S. dollars from 1.0879 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound added to 1.2925 U.S. dollars from 1.2910 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 157.07 Japanese yen, lower than 157.49 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar increased to 0.8896 Swiss francs from 0.8891 Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.3752 Canadian dollars from 1.3731 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar climbed to 10.7249 Swedish kronor from 10.6903 Swedish kronor.
