NEW DELHI, June 21 (Xinhua) -- The 10th International Yoga Day was celebrated across India on Friday with people from all walks of life practicing yoga poses for nearly an hour.

Hundreds of people attended yoga events in different cities and towns, celebrating the day with the theme "Yoga for Self and Society."

On Dec. 11, 2014, the United Nations passed a resolution during its 69th session, announcing June 21 as the International Day of Yoga.

"The number of people practicing Yoga is growing worldwide. The world is looking at Yoga as a powerful agent of global good," said Prime Minister Narendra Modi while participating in a yoga day event.
