India's seafood exports reach all-time high in FY 2023-24

NEW DELHI, June 19 (Xinhua) -- The Indian government said on Wednesday that the country's seafood exports reached an all-time high in volume during the fiscal year 2023-24 despite various challenges.

India shipped 1,781,602 tons of seafood worth 7.38 billion U.S. dollars during the fiscal year.

Export increased 2.67 percent in volume, but fell 8.77 percent in value.

Frozen shrimp retained the top item in seafood export basket, accounting for 40.19 percent of total volume and 66.12 percent of total earnings.

The United States and China were major importers of India's seafood.
