Angola's installed electricity capacity reaches 6,200 MW in 2023


LUANDA, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Angola's Secretary of State for Energy Arlindo Bota Carlos announced on Thursday that the country's installed electricity production capacity reached 6,200 megawatts (MW) in 2023, marking an increase of over 150 percent from the 2,400 MW recorded in 2015.

Carlos delivered this update during the opening of the 13th Water, Energy and Environment Forum in Luanda, Angola's capital. He said that hydroelectric generation has risen from 39 percent in 2015 to about 60 percent in 2023 in the country's energy mix, while thermal generation has decreased from 61 percent to about 36 percent.
