Kenya urges African leaders to adopt strategies to make fertilizer affordable

NAIROBI, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Kenyan President William Ruto on Thursday called on African leaders to adopt strategies to make fertilizer affordable and accessible to farmers.

Ruto, who opened the Africa Fertilizer and Soil Health Summit in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, emphasized the need for cooperation among African countries to boost the continent's capacity to produce fertilizer using locally available raw materials. "Our focus should not only be on increasing fertilizer usage but also on ensuring its judicious application to revitalize responsive soils and rehabilitate degraded ones."
