Crude futures settle higher

NEW YORK, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Oil prices inched up on Thursday.

The West Texas Intermediate for June delivery gained 27 cents, or 0.34 percent, to settle at 79.26 U.S. dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for July delivery increased by 30 cents, or 0.36 percent, to settle at 83.88 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.
