Crude futures settle higher

NEW YORK, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Oil prices advanced on Wednesday.

The West Texas Intermediate for June delivery added 61 cents, or 0.78 percent, to settle at 78.99 U.S. dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for July delivery went up 42 cents, or 0.51 percent, to settle at 83.58 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.
