Chinese shares higher at midday Thursday


BEIJING, May 9 (Xinhua) -- China's major stock indices were higher in the morning session Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.91 percent to 3,156.96 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index went up 1.63 percent at 9,795.60 points at midday.
