U.S. stocks close higher

NEW YORK, April 22 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Monday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 253.58 points, or 0.67 percent, to 38,239.98. The S&P 500 added 43.37 points, or 0.87 percent, to 5,010.6. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 169.29 points, or 1.11 percent, to 15,451.31.

All of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with technology and financials leading the gainers by adding 1.28 percent and 1.20 percent, respectively. Materials posted the weakest growth, up by 0.10 percent.
